Social Media in the Fashion Industry Response

Social media has become a key component of marketing in the fashion industry because of the amount of people it can reach in a matter of seconds. I believe "Like to Know It" is a very smart tool to use for designers, stylists and bloggers to use so that the people that follow them can have a first look at some designs on the runway and where to get them if they like the specific picture. In society today, the use of fashion magazines or magazines in general are declining because of the easy access we have to information on the web. It's easier to follow someone to get a peak at whats hot during NYFW rather than waiting a month until it's printed and in stores. Also, creating a social media as a designer is important because it gives you the opportunity to build a brand and following on Twitter and Tumblr, as stated in the Parson's The New School for Design video. In addition, the panelists spoke about the importance of keeping your brand private to a certain degree because once its out there, it's no taking it back. Networking, in a nutshell, is the main benefit of having multiple social media accounts to publish your work.
